MINUTES OF THE USER COMMITTEE MEETING August 27, 2001 Present: Jim Denker, John Crane, Arnold Hultberg, Charlie Warren, Dave Battaglia, Jeff Faust, Tim Rhay, Bill Hirsh, and Pat Bonney. Minutes from June 18, 2001, were approved as submitted. 1. Artificial turf field repair at South and bleacher installations: Bill reported that the rubber was removed at South, the field opened, repairs made, rubber reinstalled, and the turf put back together. The bleachers are to be done in time for each school's first home game. Lighting may be a little late for first games at Sheldon & South. Alternatives are being worked on. (NEHS field was delayed because of the grounding of U.S. aircraft during the week of September 11.) 2. Recruitment: John Crane reported that Kidsports will not recruit for volleyball during the school day even though the district offered that option for this school year only. 3. Advertising and signage: Advertising signs are not to be put up until consultation has taken place with this Committee. Jeff Faust reported that the City is okay with temporary signs that are put up on the inside of fences during games and taken down immediately after. He has discussed this idea with the neighbors, but will meet with them again to let them know to expect temporary signs will be put up during games. 4. AYSO request for single game site: No one from AYSO was present so this item was tabled. There was considerable discussion regarding whether time on the new fields was allotted fairly to all approved youth groups. The District's Site Use Group has formed a sub - committee to look into the situation. Dave Battaglia will act as facilitator. 5. Future agenda item: Walk on use of artificial turf fields during unscheduled times. 6. Thank you monument: Jeff said Sheldon's booster club wants to put up a "thank you" monument to the City, Community and the District. This would need to be processed and approved by the City, the District and the User Committee. 7. Field use regulations: Jeff said the sign on the fence stating the regulations for use of the artificial turf field is too small. Jim Denker agreed he had erred in making them too small. 8. Bollards at Sheldon: Cars are driving around the bollards at Sheldon. Three more are needed on City property to adequately prevent cars from driving onto the fields. Jeff and Tim Rhay will work on getting this done. 9. Trees along Norwood: The trees were planted by EWEB but no one has watered them and they are dying. Arnold and Jeff will check out the watering situation and determine who is supposed to do it. 10. Next meeting: The next meeting is scheduled for November 16, 2001, in the Parr Room at the Education Center. (Place confirmed.) Time is 10:00 a.m. -11:30 a.m. pb
