The
meeting will be held at the City of Eugene office at 1820 Roosevelt. I have attached the
notes from the last meeting as well as a draft of an new statement of partnership (with
track changes and comments from staff).
Jonathan Soll will be facilitating the meeting, he wrote:
"Based on thoughts we have and what we heard from the city, Dana and I decided that for
this meeting it was important to have the current WET members spend more time discussing
what an expanded partnership would mean and what kind of role they see for their
organizations in such a partnership. It seems too late to effectively get on potential
new members calendars and bringing them into a discussion we don't have our heads around
yet seems a recipe for disaster. AS Dana says "go slow to go fast"
Another thought, that I would like to suggest is looking at other models of broad
partnerships. I would recommend looking at what is being done on a fairly broad region,
very successfully in the upper Midwest. The Chicago Wilderness might be a model for us to
consider as we look at a larger scope and geographical area. (Don't be misled by the
name!) I would look at the goals, initiatives and membership as an example,
http : / /www.chicagowilderness.org/
(See attached file: WET Notes 080904.doc)(See attached file: WET Partnership Statement -
text 11 08.doc)
Sincerely,
Patricia (Pat) K. Johnston
West Eugene Wetlands Project Manager
Bureau of Land Management
541- 520 -2159
1
