In respects as to why PW is lead, I would suggest <br /> that PW is lead only because this is focusing on the long term use of the park both as far as features and <br /> safe use. Its not to say that PS issues will not be addressed and in fact they are an important part of the <br /> staff team. You might define what lead means for the group. My definition of lead is one where PW <br /> coordinates, does all the logistics but its the staff team that works through the issues. Can't say much <br /> about the selection process but certainly you were very through in the outreach, contacting <br /> representatives, discussing with people within our organization what qualities the applicants could bring to <br /> the process, etc. <br /> Hope this helps in some small way. I will attempt to attend as many meetings that I can when you call <br /> them. Most of the meeting was spent getting to <br /> know each other, establishing ground rules, and meeting <br /> organization. The committee decided to meet every Tuesday at <br /> 7:00 pm at the Roosevelt Yard conference room. Nothing <br /> significant came out of the meeting that we need to discuss as <br /> a staff team today. Lauren, Marge, Carrie, and I will be <br /> getting together at the 10:00 time to work on the agenda and a <br /> few logistical items. I don't think there is any need for the <br /> whole staff team to get together, given there we no issues <br /> raised at last night's meeting. However, feel free to join us <br /> in working on the agenda if you desire. <br /> A couple of the issues that we will need to address with the <br /> committee that seemed to be of concern last night were: <br /> How was the committee selected? (I am prepared to write a <br /> memo to them outlining that.) <br /> Why is Public Works the lead on this department advisory <br /> committee when most of the issues involve Public Safety? (If <br /> you have any suggestions regarding how we respond to that <br /> question, please forward them to me.) <br /> As the committee is meeting every Tuesday night, I think we <br /> should keep a standing staff meeting on our calendars for <br /> Page 1 <br />
