HAMMITT Bob
From: ELMER Vicki
To: NORRIS Linda H; ANDERSEN Chris F; FARKAS Abe K
Cc: JENNINGS Carrie A; HAMMITT Bob; WHITLOW Dave A; BRETT Tom A
Subject: RE: Raimon Frank
Date: Friday, March 14, 1997 11:47AM
I will be out of town March 19th in the evening and so cannot attend the Whittaker meeting. I spoke with
Mr. Lane of that organization at the Wednesday town hall meeting this week about this. I hadn't heard
that they had invited me and had planned on going out of town about a month or so ago on that date. Mr.
Lane and I talked about perhaps meeting soon, prior to the good weather, with the executive committee of
the neighborhood organization there to talk prevention. I don't know who would be the point person for
making contact to have that happen, but could one of you self select to do this.
My tentative idea about who should be at that meeting would be: police, community development staff,
social service providers, public works. I defer to those of you who have convened these meetings before.
(Councilmember from that district to be invited as well ? ? ? ?)
Chris, what I was thinking about is what you are going to set up for the downtown area also. However,
with respect to this area the community organization is asking for the meeting, and with respect to the
downtown, we are asking, not the business group.
If I'm missing something here, please don't hesitate to intervene to correct. Thanks.
Vicki
From: ANDERSEN Chris F
To: NORRIS Linda H; ELMER Vicki
Subject: FW: Raimon Frank
Date: Thursday, March 13, 1997 3:30PM
FYI. We can discuss on Friday or Tuesday as time permits. Chris
From: JENNINGS Carrie A
To: ANDERSEN Chris F
Cc: WHITLOW Dave A; BRETT Tom A
Subject: Raimon Frank
Date: Thursday, March 13, 1997 9:18AM
FROM: Bob Hammitt
The Whiteaker Community Council meeting is scheduled for March
19th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The agenda items are BM 47, the
Refinement Plan, and the Scobert Park Advisory Committee.
According to Raimon Frank, the chair, Vicki Elmer is attending
the meeting. He contacted Carrie Jennings and requested that
staff invite a member of the Scobert Park Advisory Committee
to act as a resource for Vicki Elmer to respond to questions
regarding Scobert Park. Carrie discussed that with me and the
decision was made not to invite a committee member to provide
support for Vicki but, if she wanted, a staff member would be
available to provide that support. Raimon is very angry
because staff has not invited an advisory committee member to
provide that support. We have told Raimon that if he wants
advisory committee members available at the meeting he is free
to invite them.
I believe Tom Brett typically attends those meetings and could
provide staff support for Vicki. As we have our summer help
hiring information session that evening, I am not available.
If Tom is not available, we could probably find someone else
to act in that capacity if Vicki desires.
Page 1
