Although they are not part <br /> of our final recommendations, some of the proposals may still warrant your consideration. <br /> Safety. Crime and Drug Prevention. Park Rules. and Police Involvement <br /> a. Legalize, tax, regulate heroin, cocaine, marijuana, putting income back into enforcement <br /> and treatment programs. <br /> b. Move phone booth (not currently operational) to corner of Whiteaker Public Safety <br /> Station <br /> c. Place cameras in park connected to video display terminals at police dispatch <br /> headquarters <br /> d. Provide receptacle for used hypodermic needles with Spanish and English signs <br /> e. Have a needle exchange in conjunction with social service agency <br /> C or f . Get the Eugene Mission more involved in working on the problems of Scobert Park <br /> g. Foster greater Whiteaker awareness of drug and alcohol problem <br /> h. Work for more mutual trust between residents and Public Safety officers <br /> i. Provide more publicity about the regular forums of discussion with law enforcement and <br /> neighborhood representatives <br /> j. Get quicker reaction to problems by Public Safety and Public Works departments <br /> • Focus community policing on dealing specifically with chronic offenders <br /> 1. Figure out how to attract those who will use the park legitimately <br /> m. Provide a public statement from City or police officials that they will enforce the laws in <br /> the park <br /> n. Have Public Works employees patrol the park more <br /> 1 <br />
