HAMMITT Bob
From: WHITLOW Dave A
To: JENNINGS Carrie A; HAMMITT Bob; BECK Marjorie B
Subject: RE: Scobert Park
Date: Monday, May 05, 1997 4:51 PM
I'm going to call Joe Kidd and Scott M. and let them know why its taken so long and tell them it will be
ready shortly. Thanks for the tip.
From: JENNINGS Carrie A
To: WHITLOW Dave A; ANDERSEN Chris F
Cc: BECK Marjorie B
Subject: Scobert Park
Date: Monday, May 05, 1997 3:59PM
FROM: Bob Hammitt
I just received another call from Joe Kidd inquiring about the
status of the response to the recommendations of the Scobert
Park Advisory Committee. I explained to him we had not yet
completed our analysis and that some of the issues, especially
those involving Public Safety, were quite complex. I got the
feeling he thought I was putting him off, as he has called
several times and I have told him each time that we were
nearing completion. I told him that Lt. Brett had left the
City, and that he had been playing a key role in the decision
making process. I told him that optimistically we might
finish them by the end of the week, but it would likely be
next week.
I also received a call from Scott Meisner a couple of weeks
ago inquiring about the status of the recommendations. Scott
stated that he had received a couple of constituent inquiries.
Our observation is that tensions in and around the park seem
to be growing again. Maybe it is a sign of the better
weather. We have gotten a couple of complaints about the
group "Food Not Bombs" serving slosh from 5 gallon pails in
the park. It is our understanding that Lane County Health
visited the site last Friday, but did not take any action.
Bob Emmons has asked the group to leave and they refused to do
so. We are probably going to need to strategize whether or
not we deal with that issue.
Just thought I would give you an update.
Page 1
