LANKSTON Jeff
From: CARLSON Jim R
Sent: Wednesday, June 21, 2000 8:43 AM
To: BRIDGES Beth B; BUWALDA Michelle E; RHAY Tim W; RINER Andrea G; *Eugene ICAT
Subject: Whiteaker Community Council Meeting Tonight
There is a scheduled meeting of the WCC tonight. I suspect they might spend the whole evening talking about the
weekend but their published agenda includes a discussion of Scobert Park (See below) If any City employee attends the
meeting and is asked about the planned construction of the fence and why we are proceeding, the answer is:
1. The Scobert Park Advisory Committee Final Recommendations March 7, 1997 in Section II. Park Design, Aesthetics,
Setting and Plantings, included "13. Maintain attractive fencing around planting beds."
2. The first section of fencing showed how successful such fencing could be in allowing the plantings to thrive.
3. The City Manager and Assistant City Manager, upon viewing the success of the first fence asked that the entire
planting area be fenced to allow the restoration and protection of the remainder of the planting beds.
If you have any questions, please call me at x5524.
WEDNESDAY, June 21, 2000
Whiteaker Community Council Executive Meeting
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Whiteaker Community Center, Clark & North Jackson
Agenda: 1.
