There are outstanding questions
which we need to discuss to move forward such as.... Ability to negotiate above market price, negotiation strategies, etc. I
hope you are available to meet at this time. Justin, can you bring the revised maps?
Thanks, Carolyn
BACKGROUND
The basic services a community park provides include:
• A Community Center and Aquatic Facilitiy
• Open Space/ Natural Areas
• Multiple lighted playing fields
• Recreation amenities such as a childrens' play area, skatepark, tennis and basketball courts, picnic area, festival
space, dog park, and community gardens.
• Infrastructure facilities such as parking and restrooms.
STRATEGY
There are a couple of different strategies for how to provide Santa Clara with the services of a community park. The
appropriate strategy is dependent on the size and character of parkland that is acquired. The different strategies
include:
Satellite Sites Satellite sites will offer different types of activities at different locations.
• A Community Center could be located in denser areas of the community, preferably inside the UGB. Other
recreation amenties such as a children's play area, skatepark, and courtsports may also be included as the site
allows. Infrastructure facilities, such as parking and restrooms would be required.
• Open space/ natural areas could be focused along the Willamette River corridor and other waterways. Other
recreation amenities such as children's play areas, picnic areas, festival space, and community gardens may also
be appropriate at activity nodes along the river. Infrastructure facilities, such as parking and restrooms may be
required.
• Playing fields could be concentrated on a single site, and adjacent to fields located on school property if possible.
Other recreation amenties may also be included as the site allows. Infrastructure facilities, such as parking and
restrooms will be required.
• As noted above, recreation amenities such as children's' play areas, skateparks, tennis and basketball courts,
picnic areas, festival space, dog park, and community gardens could be located in activity nodes along the river or
at the playing fields or community center as the sites allow.
Integrated Site An integrated community park would have a minimum of two of the above mentioned services within
one site. A likely scenario would include:
• Playing fields and community center co- located. Other recreation amenties may also be included as the site
allows. Infrastructure facilities, such as parking and restrooms will be required.
• Open space/ natural areas could be focused along the Willamette River corridor and other waterways. Other
recreation amenities such as children's play areas, picnic areas, festival space, and community gardens may also
1
