MEMORANDUM <br /> November 30, 1993 <br /> TO: DICK MORGAN <br /> FROM: DEE GRISSELL <br /> SUBJECT: VANDALISM AND FREEZE DAMAGE OVER THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAYS <br /> Over the Thanksgiving holidays, November 25 -28, numerous Park locations were <br /> either damaged due to freezing temperatures or vandalism. The following is a <br /> list of locations and problems which occurred: <br /> State Street ,_vandals . broke into the chlorinating room and broke numerous <br /> fluorescent lights, scattering debris throughout the facility. Apparently <br /> someone left the door unlocked, providing access. Also graffiti was spray <br /> painted on the East side of the building. ( Nov. 25th.) <br /> Lamb Cottage was broken into, through the Maintenance room door, and soap and <br /> debris scattered throughout the facility. Numerous hand tools, amounting to <br /> approx. $100, were taken. The maintenance room door will need to be replaced <br /> in order to prevent further problems. ( Nov. 25th.) <br /> The Octagon restrooms of Skinner Butte Park were vandalized, resulting in a <br /> broken ceramic urinal. The mens toilet stall was also set on fire damaging the <br /> seat /hinge assembly and supply lines. Approx. $ damage $800. ( Nov. 25th.) <br /> Freezing temperatures account for the remainder of damages to the following <br /> areas: <br /> Owen Rose Garden had a broken water supply line called in by Police report <br /> #121863, on Nov. 27th. Paul Heard responded and shut down the system within 30 <br /> minutes. <br /> The second restroom on the east side of the Wash /Jeff maint. room had the <br /> nozzle of the sink freeze and split. this restroom is currently shut down for <br /> the winter months. <br /> Alton Baker park womens restroom sink also had freeze damage to the sink <br /> nozzle unit. <br /> All Riverside drinking fountains, since they remain operational throughout the <br /> year, sustained damage to the cartridges. Approx. $ damage $240. We will be <br /> shutting these down until all chance of freezing weather is past. <br />
