the Amazon Creek Flood Control Works project were removed and rebuilt at a <br /> significant distance from the channel bed. Access to these levees is by a multi- <br /> purpose concrete path along the top of the levee. The exception is a small <br /> portion of the levee along Greenhill Road south of the Meadowlark Prairie <br /> Overlook which has a compacted earth driving surface along the top of the levee. <br /> The remaining original levees of the Amazon Creek Flood Control Works start at <br /> Royal Avenue. Routine access to the top of the levees is by gates located at <br /> Royal Avenue, at both sides of Greenhill Road, and at both sides of Fir Butte <br /> Road. All gates are locked with a City of Eugene bollard lock that requires a <br /> #536 key. <br /> 2. Emergency Levee Access — If access to the top of levee between Greenhill Road <br /> and Fir Butte Road is obstructed, there are several other access points that may <br /> provide limited access to the top of the levee in an emergency. None of these <br /> have an all weather surface and may only accommodate ATVs and /or tracked <br /> vehicles and equipment during inclement weather. As identified on the following <br /> maps, these are: <br /> • A farm gate at the back of the north levee underneath the western -most set of <br /> high tension lines that cross the flood channel approximately 2500' west of <br /> Greenhill Road. Access to this gate is through a large farm field. This field <br /> has access through a privately locked gate on the west side of Greenhill Road <br /> approximately 40' south of the old Amazon Channel. There is no surfaced <br /> road across the field, so vehicles will be limited to ATV /quads or other <br /> flotation tire equipped vehicles or equipment. <br /> • A foot path at the northeast corner of Hillaire Street and the south levee that <br /> could be used for ATV /quads, motorized wheelbarrows, or other small <br /> mechanized equipment. Although the path is not surfaced, it is flat enough <br /> that it could prove drivable by limited size vehicles if a path through the <br /> vegetation that made wide enough and it was surfaced with rock. <br /> • A surfaced access ramp with a private gate and lock at the back of the south <br /> levee. Access to this ramp is through the north pasture of the property at <br /> 28667 Hillaire Street. However, access through the pasture is not surfaced <br /> and may prove of limited use in inclement weather unless it is surfaced with <br /> rock. <br /> • A unimproved dirt road between the northwest corner of Hillaire Street and <br /> the back of the south levee that could be used for ATV /quads, <br /> motorized /tracked wheelbarrows or other small mechanized equipment. This <br /> road is not accessible for larger trucks or other large pieces of equipment as it <br /> is often very muddy and has a steep grade to the top of the levee. <br /> • A non - gated, grass surfaced access lane to the south levee approximately <br /> 2300' feet east of Fir Butte Road. Access to this lane is through the driveway <br /> of the property at 28393 Royal Avenue.
