While we covered most of the
information contained herein verbally during our telephone conversation of
last week, we agreed that a follow -up letter would be beneficial. First, I
again wish to apologize for the slower than usual staff response to your
letter to Chris Andersen. With the merger of Parks Services and Public Works
Maintenance it is taking us a little time to "get up to speed" on these issues
new to many of us.
Earlier this month staff was reevaluating the proposed plan for reducing the
size of the off -leash area at Morse Ranch park. While we felt it likely the
initial direction was going to be reversed due to the public input received,
that decision had not yet been made and a return letter to you at that time
would have been inconclusive. The decision to withdraw the proposal to
reduce the size of the off -leash area has been made and a copy of the announ-
cement letter sent to the Morse Ranch interested party list is included.
You asked a number of questions regarding how the Morse Ranch Historical
Corporation Board was involved in the preparation of the Morse Ranch draft
plan. A recent letter from John Replinger to the Citizen Involvement Commit-
tee asked these same questions in perhaps more detail. I am attaching a copy
of the research performed with the City Attorneys office and the staff
response to Mr. Replinger's letter. I believe this packet will answer your
questions better than I could do in this letter.
I hope the above and attachments have helped answer your concerns. Please
feel free to contact me or John Etter and 687 -5220 if you would like any
further information. J.R.
