These research efforts will be the background by which the Mayor's Committee and staff <br /> will begin to develop recommendations for the future. Beginning with the June meeting, <br /> recommendations will be developed relating to the following strategy areas: <br /> • Recreation Programs: Seniors, Youth & Family, Specialized Recreation, <br /> Athletics, Aquatics, Hult Center /Cuthbert, Volunteer Programs; <br /> • Parks: Neighborhood, Community, Metropolitan, and Linear Parks and Urban <br /> Plazas; <br /> • Community Facilities: Pools, Community Centers, Special Facilities; <br /> • Natural Areas: Ridgeline, West Eugene Wetlands, Stream Corridors, and other <br /> Natural Area Parks; <br /> • Access and Connectivity: Trails, accessibility, connectivity, bike system, public <br /> transit, and transportation safety; <br /> • Park, Open Space & Recreation Facility Renovation; <br /> • Park, Open Space & Recreation Facility Maintenance; <br /> • Resource Development: Financial Resources, Partnerships, Volunteer Programs; <br /> and <br /> • Management: Planning, Organizational Development, Public Information, and <br /> Public Involvement. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Council Action History <br /> Periodic updates to Council have been provided in January and October 2003. Councilor <br /> Nancy Nathanson provided the first update. The last update to the council was a <br /> presentation given in October 2003 by Andrea Riner, Parks & Open Space Planning <br /> Manager and Project Manager for the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> Policy Issues <br /> There are no policy issues for consideration at this time. <br /> Council Goal Action Priority <br /> The PROS Comprehensive Plan supports Council Goal #3, Building for Future <br /> Generations and Council Goal #4, Building a Livable Community. <br /> Financial and/or Resource Considerations <br /> There are no financial considerations at this time. <br /> Other Background Information <br /> The parks website is being continuously updated, and includes information about project <br /> status, public involvement opportunities, and planning efforts.
