POSSIBLE WETLANDS MAINTENANCE TASKS <br /> 1. Right -of -way and perimeter mowing - may require use of mowers or articulated arm <br /> flail to mow grass /weeds in order to comply with City's obnoxious vegetation <br /> ordivauc}es and provide for traffic visibility and fire safety along public 'ght =of way. <br /> 2. Invasive species control -- may require the use of mower, articulated arm flail, or <br /> hand - operated power brush cutter to control blackberries, teasel, scotch broom, <br /> certain species of grasses, etc., that threaten to invade and dominate native and /or <br /> constructed wetlands. May also require clean up and removal or chipping of <br /> vegetation where brush cutters cannot pulverize cut material. <br /> 3. Debris removal - may require use of front end loader /backhoe /gradall and dump <br /> trucks to remove illegally dumped debris or transient camps. May also require <br /> crews to hand remove debris if site access is limited or use of heavy equipment would <br /> result in damage to sensitive areas. <br /> 4. Access control - may require the installation /repair of fencing, berms, log barricades, <br /> gates, and ballards to restrict vehicle access into sensitive plant and wildlife areas. <br /> 5. Trail and raised walkway upkeep - may require periodic weeding and surface <br /> reconstruction of gravel and chip walkways. May also require periodic repair of <br /> raised wooden walkways. <br /> 6. Signing - may require the development /installation /replacement of interpretive, <br /> informational, and regulatory signs at points of access, along trails, and at designated <br /> interpretive areas within the wetlands. <br /> 7. Public facilities upkeep - may require periodic repair /replacement of wooden decks, <br /> kiosks, benches and other yet to be determined public amenities and educational <br /> facilities within the wetlands. <br /> 8. Operation of wetland nursery - may require the propagation, planting, and on going <br /> care of wetland plants in a designated wetland nursery. Wetland nursery stock would <br /> be available for newly constructed wetlands, wetland enhancement projects, and as <br /> replacement materials for existing wetland mitigation projects that are in need of <br /> rejuvenation/rehabilitation. <br /> 9. Vegetation replacement - may require seeding of and /or transplanting wetland nursery <br /> stock to existing wetland mitigation projects in need of rejuvenation /rehabilitation or <br /> to areas where sensitive wetland vegetation has suffered damage from vehicles, <br /> vandalism, transient activity, or illegal dumping. <br />
