Efforts to correct this problem must be taken in `97. Due to the urgent need for
channel cleaning work at this site, this should be considered the highest priority
for channel cleaning funds.
Recommended Solution: Maintenance requests that this issue be addressed in two
parts:
1) Use channel cleaning funds to complete cleaning and sediment removal
from Terry Street to the City Limits. Also, assess the need and to what
extent to reconfigure the ditch, if necessary, and contract out this portion of
the work.
2) Acquire adequate easement access for maintenance within the BPA right -
of -way along the south side of the Marshall Ditch for long term
Maintenance needs.
Status: New Project 3/97
Status `98: Design phase.
3. Various localized flooding problem projects:
a) Van Duyn - (unimproved) Drywells installed to alleviate street flooding are
beginning to fail after one year. Consider storm sewer with CB's that could be used if
Van Duyn is later improved.
b) Eastwood- (unimproved) Drywells installed last year to alleviate street flooding.
Problem may best be corrected near end of Ferry Street Bridge project when traffic
flows change.
c) Primrose- Wide, shallow ditch with reverse -grade culverts. Street flooding in winter.
Standing water in summer a safety concern for residents with small children. Improve
positive drainage in ditch or enclose with pipe.
d) Elysium at Valhalla - Localized flooding due to existing bubbler system which drains
to an undersized pipe that runs to Beltline.
e) Centennial loop- Believed to be an undersized system - mostly a problem during leaf
season.
f) Goodpasture near Selco - Believed to be an undersized system - mostly a problem
during leaf season.
g) Cheryl - Street flooding due to inadequate bubbler system, but a good inlet/outfall
system at end of street into North Beltline Floodway. PWM upgraded these inlets, but a
complete piped system is desirable.
h) Wester - Street flooding problem resulting from an inadequate combination
drywell /piped system which has been temporarily alleviated with an outfall to Wildish
ponds. A long -term solution is needed.
Status `98: Projects a -h in the design phase.
n,rhh . Vin hn. 2
