TASKS FOR PERMIT YEAR 2 (Continued) <br /> PUBLIC WORKS ADMINISTRATION <br /> ED1 - Intro to Stormwater Problem <br /> Task 1: • Participate in meetings conducted under P &A6 (solid waste management program). Document modified <br /> recycling and disposal practices /policies developed under BMP P &A6. <br /> • Continue•to educate City and department staff about disposal and recycling activities, as well as application <br /> and handling of lawn and garden chemicals. <br /> • Develop i series of posters for use internally to educate City and department staff about recycling and <br /> disposal activities that reduce impacts to stormwater quality. <br /> Task 2: • Work with City's Planning Department, Solid Waste staff, to implement a program for safe and effective <br /> onsite composting of yard trimmings and kitchen waste. <br /> Task 3: • Develop ongoing articles regarding problems associated with the quality of stormwater runoff to be published <br /> in appropriate trade journals and m neighborhood and business newsletters. Coordinate with activities <br /> conducted under BMP 0M2 (vegetation management program). <br /> • Develop and conduct on water - awareness workshop /seminar each year for community residents. Develop <br /> video and handouts to support. <br /> • Develop a series of handouts for distribution to targeted audiences. <br /> • Continue to produce a tabloid for City-wide distribution with information on methods for improving <br /> stormwater quality. <br /> • Continue presentations to community groups on stormwater pollution. provide handouts and other support <br /> materials. <br /> Task 4: • Develop an education program for property owners regarding the protection of natural resources on their <br /> Task 5: • Develop public education programs to support activities outlined in the Comprehensive Stormwater <br /> Management Program as needed. <br /> Task 6: • Develop advertising campaigns as appropriate to support projects, programs, special opportunities, and <br /> targeted pollutants. <br /> Task 7: • Educate local public agencies about stormwater and their impact on water quality. <br /> Task 8: • Develop education materials to support ED4 (volunteer activities and natural resources protection) with <br /> activities conducted under P &A 3 (incentives to preserve private property) to develop an incentive program <br /> for property owners who protect natural resources on their property. <br /> Task 9: • Develop programs to work with school staff to increase education and awareness about stormwater and water <br /> quality. <br /> • Work with school teachers to develop units on stormwater pollution.
