ORDINANCE NO. 07.0 AN ORDINANCE ADDING A NEW CHAPTER 2.25 TO THE ASHLAND MUNICIPAL CODE ESTABLISHING A STREET TREE COMMISSION. THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ASHLAND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. A new Chapter 2.25 is hereby added to the Ashland Municipal Code, and shall read as follows: "Chapter 2.25 STREET TREE COMMISSION Sections: • 2.25.010 Established -- Membership 2.25.020 Term -- Vacancies 2.25.030 Quorum -- Rules and Meetings 2.25.040 Powers and Duties -- Generally 2.25.050 Reports 2.25.060 Compensation 2.25.010 Established -- Membership. There is hereby established a Street Tree Commission which shall consist of seven (7) voting members, and certain non - voting ex- officio members including a rep- resentative of the Planning Commission, a member of the City Council, and the Director of Community Development. The voting members shall be appointed by the Mayor with confirmation by the City Council. 2.25.020 Term -- Vacancies. The term of voting members shall be for three (3) years, expiring on December 31 of each year. Any vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor with confirma- tion by the City Council for the unexpired portion of the term. The terms of the initial members shall be two for one (1) year, two for two (2) years, and three for three (3) years, which shall be drawn by lot at the first meeting of the Commission. Their successors shall be appointed for three (3) year terms. 2.25.030 Quorum -- Rules and Meetings. Four (4) voting members of the Commission shall constitute a quorum. The Commission may make rules and regulations for its meetings and procedure consistent with Roberts Rules of Order and City Ordinances, and shall meet at least once every month. At its first meeting, the Commission shall elect a Chairperson and Vice''Chairperson. The Director of Community Dev- elopment or his or her designee shall serve as Secretary. • -1-
