INTRODUCTION
At the beginning of this year the Arboriculture Section determined that a major review
of its work program was needed. The group felt that the workload was increasing; that
priorities weren't clear; and, that the group had very little control over its work. They
engaged a facilitator and underwent a series of planning sessions which took the group
through the development of a mission statement; the review of the current work
environment; and the identification of issues and strategies to facilitate the processing
and flow of City treework. The following report summarizes the results of those
sessions. The work group would like to meet to discuss the issues identified at the end.
The report is organized in the following sections:
1. MISSION STATEMENT
2. BACKGROUND - This section describes the existing philosophy and approach to
the section's work. It describes the current services and conditions, identifies
trends and describes the section's critical issues;
3. ISSUES & STRATEGIES - This section describes the issues the work group
identified and outlines the strategies it has developed to address them;
