Date: 09/11/90
From: Linda Norris CEPNLHN - RIS1
To: Bob Hammitt CEWMJRH - RIS1
Subject: Tree Commission
Bob, I talked to Sharon Rudnick this afternoon. She said you can tell
the Tree Commission chair that it is a Charter violation for anyone on the
commission to become involved in, or try to influence the filling of the
Urban Forester position. Since the Commission is appointed by Council and
acts as agents of the Council, they have the same restrictions as does the
Council about getting involved in administrative issues. Sharon said her
opinion is that an employee cannot be on a Commission. She couldn't find
the cite in the Eugene Code, so was going to go back to her office to
look at the State Statute about conflict of interest. I'll let you know
as soon as I hear from her. These are the two questions Johnny asked to
to talk to Sharon about. Do they address your concerns? Linda
