However, the utility has decided only to trim along the powerlines
onNorth Adams and other individually selected "hot spots” that cannot wait until
this fall to be trimmed. Homeowners will be contacted prior to trimming.
The reason for this deferral is to minimize the visual impact on the Whiteaker
Neighborhood during the season that most residents appreciate their trees the
most.
J The pruning scheduled in late fall is the normal cyclical trimming that is per -
formed to insure public safety and service reliability. EWEB trims to a utility
industry standard of 10 feet below the "high voltage" lines. This amount of
-- '" - clearance has produced the best balance between the health of the tree, the '
r aesthetic needs of our customers, and the desire to keep electricity costs to a -
minimum.
EWEB's tree pruning program is based on three goals:
To insure public safety. Any parent would panic at the thought of their
child climbing a tree that has grown into a powerline. Electrocution is only
one possible hazard that can arise from tree limbs that have grown too close
to powerlines. Fire is another. Tree pruning is an important part of EWEB's
committment to provide safe and reliable service to our customers.
* To provide uninterrupted power to the community.
To preserve the aesthetic beauty of the neighborhood. EWEB's tree
pruning program operates on a cyclical basis. The frequency of pruning
depends on weather conditions which influence the amount of tree growth
w trimming
. in a given year. Under normal growth conditions, EWEB's tree trii
' clearances result in an average 3 to 4 year trim cycle. v :
Z ' k- AdM3
Further questions can be directed to Marty Douglass at 484 - 2411._
y
1 s > .
EWEB :
.
,, x r as .s „rte Y , = zs crux ; F , z x w .. m 'r r d .„ s t: r .
__,:..„,
w > c as 44, . m
p+ aP . -=-",--is r p ^-": y . ^a` yy* %-- ar ix 7 nt ..wy,»,..
M L'i6 4
. 9.. A3nm+ , , ° kxM.A' d i ' ."5 1
x 3
., ' w r $ r "' A 'x a > s', "+•., m is z.
