JENNINGS Carrie A
From: JENNINGS Carrie A
To: ANDERSEN Chris F
Subject: Oregon State Extension Service
Date: Monday, April 20, 1998 10:55AM
FROM: Bob Hammitt
You sent me an e-mail a couple of months ago regarding a conversation with Janet Calvert, of the Oregon State
Extension Service, regarding handling of private property tree calls. Since then, Scott has had a couple of
conversations with their Master Gardener, Russ, regarding their program. We were hoping they would be able to
provide avenues to help us reduce our private tree related call load.
The Extension Service is willing (but not excited) to take our call loads, but doesn't really want us to do anything to
significantly increase their call load. Their master gardener feels that their area of expertise is somewhat different
than most of our call load. The Extension Service specifically deals with infestations, bugs, etc. Their master
gardener does not feel they have the tree specific expertise to address the type of questions we would usually
refer to them, and when they receive this type of call they refer them to a private arborist.
Scott feels like has pursued this avenue for decreasing our call load as far as he can take it.
Page 1
