A memorandum <br /> thereof will be filed by the city in the office of the Lane County Recorder. <br /> /WP Waterside Protection Overlay Zone <br /> 9.4700 Purpose of /WP Waterside Protection Overlay Zone. The purpose of the /WP <br /> Waterside Protection overlay zone is to protect water quality in designated waterways, <br /> riparian areas, and adjacent wetlands by maintaining an undeveloped setback area <br /> between these features and adjacent developed areas. Maintenance of this setback <br /> area is also intended to protect wildlife habitat and prevent property damage from <br /> storms and floods. The /WP overlay zone is intended to maintain or enhance open <br /> space areas adjacent to water features. These open space areas are important because <br /> they typically contain native vegetation; convey, store, or improve the quality of urban <br /> stormwater runoff; provide habitat for wildlife; and, where appropriate, can provide <br /> legally obtained access for channel maintenance. Uses and activities permitted in <br /> these areas are restricted in most cases to those that are consistent with the purpose of <br /> this overlay zone.
