ACTION REQUESTED <br /> Conduct a work session on a revised draft Tree Preservation Code (6.300 - 6.330). <br /> II. COUNCIL ACTION HISTORY <br /> The General Fund Urban Forestry Service reduction strategy adopted by Council last <br /> spring included discontinuing staff permit administration, complaint investigation and <br /> code enforcement of tree removals on private lands. <br /> Council conducted a work session and gave initial direction regarding this code revision <br /> on November 12, 1997. <br /> III. BRIEFING STATEMENT <br /> Eugene Code Section 6.300 - 6.330 provides a permit process for evaluating tree removal <br /> applications for street trees and trees on private lands. Funding for the staff work in <br /> administering this program, is from the General Fund for trees on private lands and from <br /> the Road Fund for street trees. <br /> In order to implement the General Fund Urban Forest service reductions adopted by <br /> Council it is needed to change Eugene Code Section 6.300 - 6.330 to modify <br /> requirements for city staff administration of a tree removal permit, complaint <br /> investigation and code enforcement program on private properties. <br /> IV.
