An organization that accepts human whole blood, donated voluntarily, <br /> and for which no financial compensation is received. <br /> Boarding and Rooming House. At least one dwelling together with 3 or more <br /> rooms that are offered for rent, but which rooms, individually or collectively, do not <br /> constitute separate dwellings. A rooming and boarding house is designed to be <br /> occupied by long term residents (at least month -to -month tenants) as opposed to <br /> overnight or weekly guests. <br /> Boardwalk. A raised walkway with railings, that allows humans to enter a sensitive <br /> natural area without damaging plants or compacting soils. <br /> Building. A structure designed and used as a place of occupancy, storage, or shelter. <br /> Building Addition. An expansion, extension or increase in the gross floor area or <br /> height of a building or facility. The terms "building addition" and "building <br /> expansion" are used interchangeably in this land use code. <br /> Building Alteration. Development that does not result in a building addition. <br /> Building Articulation. The design emphasis given to architectural elements such as <br /> walls, windows, balconies, and entries that serve to provide visual interest and <br /> elements of scale. <br /> Building Bulk. The spatial dimensions of a structure. <br /> Building Facade. The exterior wall of a building exposed to public view where the <br /> building, or a portion thereof, is located within 40 feet of public right -of -way, private <br /> drives, or public pedestrian way. <br /> Building Height. The vertical distance above a reference datum measured to the <br /> highest point of the coping of a flat roof, to the deck line of a mansard roof, or to the <br /> average height of the gables of a pitched or hipped roof.
