The intent is to have tree -lined streets throughout the Ci y. <br /> (1) Refer to Subsections (10), (11), (12) and.(13) of this `action to <br /> determine which species are permitted or prohibited as street <br /> trees. <br /> (2) Except where there are physical restrictions, street tees shall <br /> be spaced at 30 foot intervals. Street trees shall not .e planted <br /> closer than 35 feet from the perpendicular curb line of <br /> - intersections of streets, nor within 5 feet of alley -, private <br /> driveways or fire hydrants. <br /> (3) . New utility poles shall not be located within 5 f -t of an <br /> . existing street tree, unless no alternative locations ex :t. Tree <br /> Wells shall not include utility fixtures such as Ovate. and gas <br /> meters. <br /> (4) Street trees to be planted from 10 to 20 feet fro a light <br /> standard shall be of columnar shape approved by the Dir= tor. No <br /> street tree shall be planted within 10 feet of alight st= dard or <br /> utility pole. <br /> (5) Trees shall be planted a minimum of 2 1/2 feet from the ace of a <br /> curb. Trees not be planted within 1 1/2 feet of ..y other <br /> surface paving. Space between the tree and such hard su face may <br /> be covered by an approved non - permanent hard surface i <br /> eluding, <br /> but not limited to grates, bricks on sand, paver Jocks or <br /> cobblestones. Sidewalk cuts in concrete for tree plant ng shall <br /> be at least 3' in diameter to help allow air and water into the <br /> root area. <br /> (6)• Existing street trees shall be retained unless app oved for <br /> removal, during site development or in conjunction with : street <br /> construction project.
