NeighborWoods Tree Planting
(Date)
(Time)
Planting Day is (day, date), rain or shine, but not if it snows. Here's what
happens:
1. Please, pre -dig the hole(s) any time after the City checks out the
underground utility lines. You will know when, because there will
be colored markings on your planting strip. Holes should be 2.5
feet in diameter and 1.5 feet deep.
2. Meet at (time) at (address) for a demonstration planting. Wear
old clothes, work gloves, and rain gear if needed. Have a spade,
rake, and a broom handy. The City will have extra spades, rakes,
and brooms, along with stake - pounders, stakes, and tree ties.
3. We'll divide into small groups to make sure everyone has some
help. We should be done by (time 3 -4 hours later).
4. Your new should look quite good in its first year, but may not put
on much new growth until the third year, but this is how to ensure
they'll do well at their new home:
Stake - keep it in place through the summer, but not
much longer. Also, be careful the tree ties are not
tight around the tree.
Water - about 15 gallons a week from May through late
September for the first 3 years. This will cost you
about $0.25 per tree per year.
Weed - keep grass, weeds, and other plants out of the
planting area - they steal the tree's water and soil
nutrients.
If you have any questions call me (your name) at xxx -xxxx, in the (time span).
Thank you.
