ESTIMATED COST PER TREE PLANTED <br /> in <br /> Eugene's NeighborWoods Program <br /> The following calculations give some idea of the amount of savings that the <br /> NeighborWoods program can provide to our community. The calculations are <br /> based on carrying out two planting projects simultaneously, with a total of 50 <br /> trees being planted. The itemized costs are for purchase of trees and the use <br /> of City staff time. All other labor is provided free by the neighborhood <br /> volunteers. <br /> I. Wholesale cost of 50 bare -root trees $1,000.00 <br /> II. Transportation from the nursery (fuel and labor) <br /> vehicle and fuel <br /> 200 miles @ $0.50 /mile $100.00 <br /> labor (one person @ $15 /hr, for 8 hrs, <br /> to pick up and deliver trees $120.00 <br /> 220.00 <br /> III. Administrative services required of NeighborWoods <br /> Coordinator (very little support staff assistance <br /> is necessary) <br /> Tasks include mapping, phone calls, correspondence, <br /> training of Project Leaders and volunteers, and <br /> coordination and supervision before, during, and <br /> after Planting Day <br /> one person @ $15 /hr, for 40 hrs 600.00 <br /> IV.
