The Eugene Tree Foundation, in
cooperation with the City of Eugene, will be planting new trees this
winter in the park strip or public right -of -way along your street.
Funds to purchase, plant, and provide initial care for these trees
are being provided by the City.
Within the next few weeks, the park strip adjacent to your business
will be inspected to determine soil Type, width of the planting area,
and location of utilities. (Where park strips are currently covered
with concrete, appropriate planting sites will be identified and the
concrete will be later.) Based on this information, the trees
which will perform best at your site will be selected, from the City's
Approved.$treet Tree List. If you wish, you may contact our office
to select which tree from this group you prefer_. to have planted. If
we do not hear from you, a suitable tree species will, be selected
from this list by our staff.
New trees will be planted later this winter by Eugene Tree Foundation
volunteers while the trees are still dormant and have the stfongest
chance of surviving transplanting. Watering is provided by the City
for the first three years of a new tree's life. However, if your
park strip' is already irrigated, kindly let us know so the City can
use.its resources to provide better care for trees in other locations.
If you have a preference of tree species to'be planted, please contact
us no later than January 15th so that we can arrange for the appropriate
species to be purchased.
Sincerely,
John Kline, President
Dennis Lueck, Tree Planting Coordinator
Board Members: Jonathan Brandt, Terri Harding, John Kline, Dennis Lueck, Jerry Oltion
Eugene Tree Foundation P.
