area of the tree. While allowing the center of the tree to be filled and green
up, and simultaneously reducing the tip loads, forces the overextended tree
inwards. Restricting the crown or tree canopy toward the center, reduces the
length of the branches, reduces weight and windsail hazards, increasing its
retention chances for a longer period of time.
Aphids - -- In case the aphid infestation we found on many of the trees
becomes a problem, and considering the environmental sensitivity of the
neighborhood, we propose the following treatments: pressure washing with
plain water and/or insecticidal soaps, and/or the manual release of
predacious insects, e.g. lady bugs.
Nutrient Health Improvement Measures:
Tree Roots: - -- On the keeper trees, we recommend the application of
mulch, the time - release nutrient NPK, beneficial mycorrhizal fungus spores,
and humic acid injections into the soil.
Monitoring - -- Twice a year, these trees should be reinspected for new
developing hazards, and recommendations to be reported to the tree pruning
contractors.
8
