My mother tripped over one of these irregular areas,
causing her to fall forward.
As a result of the improper maintenance of these grates, she sustained a fracture to her nose,
significant lacerations and avulsions, requiring six stitches to her hand, as well as significant
swelling to each knee cap, as well as pain in her shoulder and hip area.
At the urgent care medical provider that first attended to her, the nurse stated that she has three
personal friends that she knows that have tripped on those gratings. I am sure that the City, and
Hilton, have knowledge of many more of these incidents resulting from the defective conditions
of the sidewalk area.
The purpose of this letter is to provide notice to the City and Hilton of this dangerous condition
in hopes that it will immediately be inspected examined and rectified.
f:\gcb statrfolders \jim wilson \city of eugene.hilton letter 5.21.04.doc Rev. 5/21/2004
