July 1, 2014

Dear Golden Gardens Park in-water dog trainer,

Your renewal request for an in-water dog training permit has been approved. A copy of a current Lane County
dog license has been provided, and your permit is valid for the remainder of this year’s training period from
April 10 to October 31, 2014.

As a friendly reminder, please read this letter and the enclosed materials to make sure you understand the
requirements and limits of the program. We appreciate your continued consideration for other park users you
may encounter, such as pedestrians or bicyclists, and the wildlife and habitat this wonderful park supports,
such as waterfowl and western pond turtles.

Only vehicles with permits from Parks and Open Space are allowed within the park boundary. The permit must
be displayed on the vehicle dashboard so it is visible at all times when the vehicle is inside the park boundary.
POS or City of Eugene Police Department staff may ask parties not displaying a valid permit to cease training
activities and remove vehicles from the park.

The north gate along the Clear Lake Road access site shall be kept locked at all times except when entering or
exiting the park. The lock combination for the access site is 1-0-3-1 and entry is currently available. Please
contact John Clark at (541) 682-4826 if you experience any difficulty accessing the gate with the combination.
Monday through Friday permitted parking is limited to the road between the North and Main ponds inside the
designated jogging path, as shown on the attached map in orange, and parking on these days will be more
strictly monitored. On Saturday and Sunday, permitted parking is limited to these two locations: (1) along the
road north of the walking/jogging path at the north end of the ponds and (2) on Jessen Street. Vehicles must
be attended at all times. Failure to comply with these parking requirements may result in a vehicle access
permit being revoked. Please contact Clara Matsler at (541) 682-4908, if you have questions or concerns about
the designated parking area.
Direct access to the ponds for dog training activities is limited to the Main Pond and North Pond, as shown on
the attached map. No more than two dogs per trainer are allowed to be active in the ponds at any given time.
In-water dog training activities are allowed from April 10 through October 31, daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Please note limited vehicle parking on Saturdays and Sundays as referenced above. Dog training in the fields
away from the ponds is allowed only with prior written permission from lease-holders of those fields. Please
note: dogs are only authorized to be off-leash when engaged in in-water training activities. Your permit does
not authorize you to have dogs off-leash in the park for any other purpose.
