Eugene Snowcats <br /> They are a 5 team organization of the NAL, (North American League). They are <br /> sponsored by Ice Age Entertainment headquartered in Las Vegas. Ice Age Entertainment <br /> would like to build their own Eugene rink in the future. Their goals and objectives are to <br /> have a 5 year contract with Lane County Ice and have a 2,000 seat arena. <br /> Susan Belanger circulated a memo on the current status of the ice rink. This was in <br /> response to Sandy Vaughan's question of facility usage and rental fees. <br /> Barbara Keller suggested that the Snowcats keep us informed of their progress, updating <br /> us on if they're growing, going to be sticking around for awhile. <br /> Update on Events <br /> Ron Allen State Games of Oregon wants to move the Soccer Mid Regionals to the <br /> Springfield/Eugene area. Other possibilities for relocation are softball, basketball, track & <br /> field. <br /> High School football semi -finals and finals were discussed. <br /> Broad Base programs is doing a market research study through the University and will <br /> probably have it in March and they are currently putting together a blue ribbon fundraising <br /> panel. <br /> Announcements and other business <br /> Mayor Bill suggested that we invite Bill Moos and Mike Gleason to our meeting in the <br /> near future. <br /> Mayor Bill will contact Steve Cornacchia and ask him to appoint a representative. <br /> On Saturday, December 30, there will be a youth Silver Gloves Boxing Tournament. <br /> Bob Josephson reported that there seems to be a dwindling of Women's Volleyball and we <br /> need to encourage programs in volleyball and other women's sports. <br /> Al King questioned whether the Commission should still be a monthly meeting or <br /> looking at having quarterly meetings. <br /> The endorsement for the MSC Sports plan is on the agenda for the LCC Board on <br /> December 7. (It was approved). <br /> Next meeting will be January 22, at Eugene 4J School District, Mozart Room, <br /> Education Center, 200 N. Monroe. <br />
