Sandy Vaughn reported that the West Coast Ultimate Frisbee Championships will be at the
University of Oregon and Springfield High School fields on April 5 & 6.
Sandy Vaughn would like the Metropolitan Sports Commission to examine the issue of adequate
swimming facilities for the programs in the area. With Measure 47 on the horizon we should be
concerned with the loss of swimming pools' hours along with the loss of pools to meet the needs of
the communitiy. She asked to see this issue on the next agenda. Bob Josephson suggested that we
invite the various representatives from the areas swimming programs to bring to us their facts and
figures. Bob also suggested that Mayor Bill write a letter to Dan Williams at the University of
Oregon about the concerns of maximizing use of the pool. Howard Wade will get together with
Sandy to discuss the issues that need to be addressed in the letter and will get Mayor Bill to sign it
as the Metropolitan Sports representative.
Announcements and Other Business
Live on CBS, May 25, @ 10:00 a.m. the PreFontaine Classic at Hayward Field.
Next Meeting will be held at Springfield City Hall, Library Meeting R000m on Tuesday, May
27th from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Metropolitan Sports Commission Minutes - Page 3 of 3
