L 7_
JENNINGS Carrie A \1
C
From: JENNINGS Carrie A
To: SHUTT Gene
Cc: MEDLIN Johnny R; EVELETH Doug A; MORGAN Dick A
Subject: School District 4J Property
Date: Monday, January 09, 1995 T1:33AM
FROM: Bob Hammitt
As you are probably aware, I have notified School District 4J that when they move their transportation
operation from the Civic Stadium site to the old Lane Transit District site, the Maintenance Division is
interested in either acquiring or leasing a portion of the Civic Stadium site. That portion is the approximate
3/4 acre area at the very northeast corner of the site, and contains an approximate 12 bay bus shed.
I recently spoke with John Lauch of School District 4J about the status of their move. They are currently
planning to move their transportation operations as soon as school is out this summer. Margaret Nichols
has appointed a citizen committee to make a recommendation on what to do with the old Civic Stadium
site. John told me that he would place our request before the committee. He says it is anticipated that
the committee will come forth with a recommendation in approximately one month.
John indicated the School District was quite flexible as to the type of agreement we might enter. I told
him I felt we were also very flexible. Some of the options we discussed were, trading the site for some
work and possibly some other City of Eugene property. We specifically discussed the possibility of the
City doing sidewalk installation along school district properties to accomplish the goals of the sidewalk infill
program. We also discussed the possibility of trading some park property that might be needed by the
school district.
I just wanted to bring all of you up to date on the status of this negotiation.
Page 1
