We walk in West Eugene at least 5 days a week. I am
appalled at the ongoing graffiti on the bike path, especially between Chambers and Van Buren. I hate the lack of lighting on the Bike
Path through Westmoreland Park. People come at you out the dark, both pedestrians and bike riders. And the staff is so strapped for
time and resources that it can take up to a month to repair a street light that has a faulty photo -cell. But the Parks Department has the
money to install new signs at parks around the city. Westmoreland has 2 that I've seen, as does Amazon. Monroe and Washington
Parks have one each. They are too "broke" to continue care of the parks, but have the money for these fancy new signs. I am also
frustrated that NW Natural can go into an area where the city will be paving later (Jefferson St. last year, 18th this year) and leave the
area in worse shape than it started with. We are expected to "live with it for months. This year, they have tom up the sidewalks at
18th and Polk St. They put in asphalt to fill in the removed concrete, but didn't bother to roll it to make it smooth. On the northeast side
of the intersection, the asphalt sections continue off and on for half a block. Since the area isn't well lit, it makes for a dangerous walk,
even for the able - bodied and spry, after 6:00 p.m. Since I assume the city repaving won't take place until late spring, the idea of
stumbling through there for another couple of months is very disheartening. I am sure that if we dug up our sidewalk for a repair, the
city wouldn't let us wait 3 or more months to repave it. I think that if NWN had rolled the asphalt smooth, it would be easier to live with
it.." Name: Betsy Payne Email: betsylpayne @gmail.com Phone: 541 - 485 -8632 Can you assist with her request?
