CHAPTER IV <br />C -30. Develop amenities to promote canoeing, kayaking, rafting, <br />drift boating, and river surfing on the Willamette River and <br />other appropriate waterways. <br />C -31. Continue monitoring trends in recreation, providing <br />opportunities for community input, and working with other <br />private and public organizations to address emerging program <br />needs and new trends, such as specialized bike riding facilities <br />and river water sports. <br />C -32. Provide a minimum of one of each of the following facilities in <br />each planning area: <br />• Off -leash dog area; <br />• Community garden sites (2 per planning area where <br />feasible); <br />• Neighborhood -scale skate park; <br />• Community -scale skate park; <br />• Sand volleyball courts; <br />• Disc golf; and <br />• Spray park or water play element. <br />C -33. Consider lighting or covered structures to extend the use of <br />outdoor facilities, such as skate parks, basketball courts, and <br />children's play areas, where appropriate. <br />D. Natural Areas <br />D -1. Promote connectivity between natural areas and other <br />recreation facilities and community destinations through <br />acquisition and trail development whenever feasible. Work <br />with appropriate governing jurisdictions, such as Lane County, <br />to explore feasibility of trail connections between natural <br />areas, recreation facilities, and community destinations on <br />lands outside Eugene's urban growth boundary. <br />D -2.
