CHAPTER IV <br />M <br />Include the following facilities in each community park: <br />• Neighborhood park components, including children's play <br />areas, basketball courts, open play area, etc. <br />• Reservable picnic areas, <br />• Performance and gathering space, <br />• Restrooms; <br />Soccer and softball /baseball fields; <br />Paved pathways and trails; <br />• Natural areas; and <br />• Off - street parking, transit access and bike parking. <br />B -32. Recognize that community parks have traditionally been the <br />sole locations for active recreation facilities within Eugene, and <br />as such, must be adequate in size and scale to support a wide - <br />range of community needs for cultural events, athletics, <br />aquatics, and community gathering. <br />B -33. Work with the River Road Park and Recreation District in long - <br />range planning to continue to meet community park needs in <br />this area. <br />B -34. Offer opportunities for other recreation features where <br />appropriate, such as tennis courts, disc golf, jogging trails, <br />skate parks, and off -leash dog areas. <br />Metropolitan Parks <br />B -35. Maintain metropolitan parks to preserve unique cultural and <br />natural areas or to provide features, facilities, and events that <br />attract users from the entire Eugene - Springfield metropolitan <br />area. <br />B -36. Provide metropolitan parks as part of the overall standard of <br />6.8 acres per 1,000 residents (including metropolitan parks, <br />special use facilities, urban plazas, and linear parks) to allow <br />maximum flexibility in responding to community needs and <br />acquisition opportunities. <br />B -37.
