POS Leadership Team- Legacy Exercise
DRAFT Synthesized Comments
June 18, 2007
After 100 years of Eugene Parks, the legacy that the Parks and Open Space Division
inherited includes:
• A system that is built upon a natural framework of rivers and ridges that consists of
trails, parks, and open spaces that are distributed throughout the community.
• A competent, dedicated staff that take pride in their work and are motivated to
continually improve upon the services they deliver.
• Strong public support for the existing park and open space system and its continued
growth.
Looking towards the future, the Parks and Open Space Division will strive to build on the
inherited legacy by:
• Managing and expanding the park and open space system within its regional context
in a manner that reflects the values of the community and is recognized as a local and
national model.
• Continuing to attract and sustain a positive and motivated workforce with supportive
and creative problem- solving leadership.
• Improving the connection to the community through public participation,
partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and creative programming.
0.Alye VSTCCSS/Vf
