June 27, 2009
Johnny Medlin
Parks and Open Space
Eugene
Dear Johnny,
I am writing you after a brief conversation with Carolyn Weiss suggested you were the most
appropriate and direct person to contact. I share a property line with Laurelwood Golf Course
property which is over 300 feet in length, running along the fairway of the 9th hole, but removed
from it by significant distance and natural vegetation barriers, if one considers blackberries,
escaped cherries, and giant sequoias "natural ". I am enclosing a plot plan of my property where
I live, which is labeled lot 6604 of Prescott Estates.
A bit of history: The property was subdivided about 1967, and I bought the property in 1968,
along with the easterly 20 feet of lot 6601. I built our house in 1973. Sometime around then, the
three lots 6601, 6602, and 6603 were traded to the City in exchange for sewer assessment fees
for the subdivision and became part of Laurelwood Park. They now make up the rough along the
9 hole, along the east side of the golf cart path.
I am beginning to subdivide my property to create a new building lot (infill and all that) and,
since my lot is over % acre, I have ample property. However, I would like to be able to provide
better separation opportunity for a house on the new lot from the house on lot 6612. This would
be possible by straightening the westerly lot line of my property by transferring the easterly 20
feet of lots 6602 and 6603 from the City to me, for some remuneration. This land is overgrown,
far from the course, and has no use other than habitat for deer, wild turkey, and the occasional
homeless.
I am enclosing some plot maps and diagrams to explain my proposal. The future owner of the
new lot would get the opportunity for a bit more privacy, as would the current resident on lot
6612. The City POS would get some money for some small project not otherwise funded. I
don't need the property to subdivide, but everything would be neater to straighten out the
property line along the east side of the 9 hole.
I don't ask for any favors, Johnny, and will in no way be upset or disappointed if the answer is
summarily no, precedents, and all that. If you want to send someone out to look over the
situation, I am available for that. I hope you are enjoying another summer in Eugene's parks and
open spaces.
Sincerely,
A4 1 z
Howie Bonnett
1835 E. 28 Ave.
-?' - I d, b'(
h nhEtt(puore 4u
