The event is free and open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Mayor Piercy is one of nearly 50 City tour guides who will help students, teachers
and other attendees navigate the many displays and answer questions about the variety of
services provided by Public Works.
Each year, the Eugene Public Works Department invites community members to the
event to learn more about public works services, which include managing wastewater and
stormwater, building and fixing streets, taking care of City parks and natural areas, and
running the Eugene Airport. All kinds of equipment is on display, including police cars and
fire trucks.
Continuing a tradition that began last year, two local schools – Adams Elementary
School and Willagillespie School – were selected to paint snow plow blades this spring.
Those blades will be on display at the event, reminding people that Public Works is a first
responder in many emergencies, including storms like the ones that hit the area last winter.
Vehicle and bike parking is available at the event, and LTD has a convenient bus stop
near the yard’s main entrance.
For more information, go to www.eugene-or.gov/pwday,.

# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
