DATE: May 1, 2014
CONTACT: Emma Newman, Springfield CycloFemme Ride Coordinator,
emma.newman@springfield.k12.or.us, 541-726-3483

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ride Together on Mother’s Day with CycloFemme

Looking for something fun to do on May 11, Mother’s Day? Hop on a bike and pedal down to Owen
Memorial Rose Garden (300 N. Jefferson St., Eugene) or Willamalane Swim Center (1276 G St., Springfield)
to join more than 200 people on a casual bike ride around Eugene and Springfield to celebrate women on
wheels.
CycloFemme is an annual international Mother’s Day ride that unites riders, regardless of gender,
age, ethnicity, or bicycle preference to share in the joy of riding bikes. Ride with us as we honor the past,
celebrate the present, and empower the future of women in cycling.
Because the Eugene ride was such a huge success last year, there will be two rides this year – one in
Eugene and one in Springfield! Join whichever ride you would like because they will both come together for
a celebration at the end in Island Park.
Eugene and Springfield’s versions of this international ride will have a “pretty skirts” theme (to be
interpreted by you), flowers, and temporary tattoos. Each of the rides will take a leisurely pace riding with
music to the celebration. Meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Eugene or Springfield ride location and be ready to join in
the ride that will depart at 2 p.m. sharp.
If you have general questions about the ride or would like to help promote it, please contact Emma
Newman at emma.newman@springfield.k12.or.us or 541-726-3483.
Visit the Eugene-Springfield CycloFemme 2014 Facebook event at bit.ly/EugSpfldCycloFemme for
more information or visit http://cyclofemme.com/ for information about the worldwide celebration.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
