April 14, 2014

CONTACT: Teri Higgins, Project Manager, 541-682-8462

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Traffic Advisory
East End of Goodpasture Loop to Be Closed for Paving Repairs
The east end of Goodpasture Loop will be closed to inbound traffic for several days beginning
Wednesday, April 16.
The loop will be closed to all turns from Goodpasture Island Road at the traffic signal across
from the main entrance to Kendall Chevrolet/Honda. Access will be maintained to homes and
businesses during the closure, and southbound traffic will be allowed to exit the loop onto
Goodpasture Island Road. The west end of the loop will remain open.
Wildish Construction, working under contract to the Eugene Public Works Department, began
paving repair work on Goodpasture Loop in mid-March and initially focused on sidewalk access ramp
installations and repairs. Starting Wednesday, crews will excavate about 800 feet on the east end of
the loop that needs extensive repairs. When all subsurface repair work has been completed, Wildish
will repave the entire 1.25-mile-long loop road. Work is scheduled to be substantially completed by
mid-May.
The $900,000 project to repair Goodpasture Loop is funded primarily by the 2012 voter-
approved bond measure to fix city streets. During the 2014 construction season, 17 major street repair
projects as well as a variety of pedestrian and bicycle improvements are scheduled around the city.
For more information on the Goodpasture Loop project or other local road projects, visit
www.eugene-or.gov/pwprojects or follow EugenePW on Twitter. For regional traffic updates,
including LTD’s west Eugene EmX project as well as projects by ODOT, Lane County, Eugene and
Springfield, go to www.keepusmoving.info.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
