March 21, 2014

CONTACT: Damon Joyner, Surface Maintenance Supervisor, 541-682-4835

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Traffic Advisory
Concrete Repairs Will Close 19 Avenue by South Eugene High
th
A two-block section of 19 Avenue between High and Ferry streets will be closed to
th
all traffic for one week beginning Monday, March 24. The street is scheduled to reopen on
Monday, March 31.
The closure will allow crews from Eugene Public Works Maintenance to replace the
existing damaged concrete panels in that section with new concrete panels. The extended
closure is necessary to allow enough time for the new concrete to cure sufficiently to
handle traffic loads.
While the street is closed for concrete repairs, eastbound traffic on 19 Avenue will
th
be directed to use alternate routes, such as High Street to 18 Avenue or Amazon Parkway
th
to 24 Avenue. Sidewalks will remain open for pedestrian use.
th
The work dates were chosen to coincide with spring break at South Eugene High
School. Access to the school will be maintained although the driveway across from Mill
Street will be closed.
For up-to-date reports on this and other local street repair projects, go to
www.eugene-or.gov/traffic or follow EugenePW on Twitter.

# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
