Public Works is coordinating closely with EWEB to ensure crew safety if power <br />lines are snagged in ice-encrusted toppled trees and broken limbs. <br />Heavy loads of snow and ice have accumulated on trees and roofs, creating the potential for <br />hazards from falling limbs, icicles, collapsed awnings and other overhead structures. <br />Tree crews are prioritizing calls throughout the city. Trees blocking major thoroughfares <br />are the highest priority. Some down trees are so large they require heavy equipment to move pieces <br />out of the roadway. <br />To report a blocked street in Eugene, call 541-682-4800. For power outages in Eugene, call <br />EWEB at 541-484-2300. Public Works cannot respond to trees on private property. Property <br />owners are advised to contact commercial tree services for assistance in dealing with trees on <br />private property. <br />Meanwhile plows continue to clear deep, icy slush from second- and third-priority routes. <br />Travelers are advised that driving and walking are hazardous in many areas. Public Works will <br />continue to monitor conditions and provide updated travel information before Monday morning’s <br />commute. <br />An ice-snow emergency declared Thursday continues to be in effect, means parked or <br />abandoned vehicles on priority routes may be towed without warning. A map showing the location <br />of priority routes can be viewed at www.eugene-or.gov/snow. <br />Airport travelers are advised to check flight schedules. Up-to-date flight information is at <br />www.flyEUG.com. All City pools and recreation centers are closed today.
