SMITH Tammy D
From:WEIXELMAN Susan E
Sent:Thursday, October 31, 2013 11:52 AM
To:SMITH Tammy D
Subject:FW: Minor follow up from SB meeting with Kurt
Hi Tammy, can you please add this to the SB laser fiche?!

Thx!
Susan

_____________________________________________
From: HUBERD John C
Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2013 11:46 AM
To: WEIXELMAN Susan E
Subject: RE: Minor follow up from SB meeting with Kurt

Kurt is correct that the blower is operational. However, we discovered we are not meeting our original objectives. Here
is the explanation I sent to MWMC for that supplemental budget request.

Aeration Blower Reappropriation Request

The unspent funds of $843,881 for the Aeration Blower Replacement project are being requested for re-
appropriation to accomplish the project’s energy reduction objectives. The blower installation was
completed in time to receive funding from EWEB and we are currently studying the blower operation
with respect to demand response savings potential. Additionally, the treatment process is currently
achieving energy savings from the installation of the energy efficient blower as originally planned.
However, the energy savings are not to the extent as expected.

Upon review of the calculations used in design, an error in historical process data was discovered. This
has prompted a study of what additional aeration capacity, if any, is needed. Once this incremental
amount is quantified, we will evaluate if there will be a positive return on investment to fill the gap with a
second energy efficient blower. The amount requested reflects the cost of a second blower similar to
what has been installed. The addition of a second blower is one option and we will also explore other
options that may achieve the energy savings objectives at a lower cost. Appropriation of the funds at this
time will also allow potential future project work to continue without interruption.

Thanks,
John

_____________________________________________
From: WEIXELMAN Susan E
Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2013 10:34 AM
To: HUBERD John C
Subject: Minor follow up from SB meeting with Kurt

1
